I think this was the first time America’s Got Talent has ever had a very young person to audition. Meet a 4-year-old kindergarten student named Kaitlyn Maher, a smart and brave young girl who went on stage in front of many people, or should I say, on national television.

Unlike most children who cry whenever they feel uneasy or kind of nervous, little Kaitlyn seemed to be well-composed and sure of what she was doing. It’s so funny because adults would sometimes tremble when on stage facing so many people, but Kaitlyn displayed the opposite. You could see it in the way she answered questions and didn’t show any stage fright at all, and she comfortably said that she’s a singer. That’s the spirit. Even at a young age she perfectly knew what she wanted.

Little Kaitlyn wowed the crowd as she sang her kiddy rendition of the song “Somewhere Out There” originally sang by James Ingram. She said that she like to sing very much. Having such very supportive parents, she climbed her way to national stage from her school stage, and had been given a chance to show what she’s got. Her chosen path paid off as the crowd applauded for her adorable performance.

It’s very rare to see little children join auditions that are mostly deemed to be for adults, but that didn’t stop Kaitlyn to show her talent. She definitely was determined. She said she likes singing very much, and she pursues it. Don’t you think it’s a huge encouragement for us all from a little girl? It definitely is.

Kaitlyn is now 8 years old and keeps her passion in singing burning in her heart. She continues to capture the hearts of her countrymen everywhere she goes to perform. She even had the chance to perform in front of President George W. Bush at the White House, and an occasion in front of Michelle Obama singing the national anthem. A great girl she is.
