Nothing can make anyone laugh other than this funny video clip from BBC News. News reporting is not an easy job especially when you are given out of town or out of the country assignments. You are exposed to a lot danger and untoward incidences that may sometimes put your life in trouble.
Iraq is considered to be one of the hostile countries in the Middle East that once headed by a defiant president Saddam Hussein. This hilarious interview happened after the fall of Saddam Hussein’s rule.
The reporter shares what’s happening in Iraq at that moment to TV viewers. She then interviews one of Saddam’s supporters when suddenly things go out of the ordinary. While being interviewed, the man asks if the things that he sees on the screen are subtitles. That idea of putting subtitles in his statements pisses him off and starts to get mad saying that why do they have to put subtitles on what he’s saying. Things get worst as he discovers that when his comrade talks, there are no subtitles, only his statements.
Being in that place and situation, you might have some mixed emotions at that very moment, fearful of something bad might happen to you and giggly at the same time. I can’t just believe this thing can also happen in a very serious situation. I believe all who watched it were a bit shocked at the man’s childish reaction. One might mistake it for a prank. I can’t blame them; it really looks like a joke even if it’s not.
This seldom happens, but this surely gives viewers some kind of a short relief from tensions especially on the part of the families of the American soldiers deployed there.
