In the past, robots have become an object of awe among kids. It began to create what seems to be a robot mania in the past decades. You can see it in toys, mascots and, of course, in movies. Japan, as far as we know, is the birthplace of the science of robotics. And they are, in fact, really good at it.
At the dawn of the 21st century we are seeing science making a huge leap of progress than ever before, creating wonders that people in the past didn’t think possible. Now, as it continues to advance, scientific inventions and discoveries begin to evolve into something more sophisticated and mind-blowing.
From the Creative Robotics Lab, here comes Geminoid F, a human-like female robot designed to interact with humans in the area of communication. It was designed by Professor Yoshio Matsumoto of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology in Japan. He conducts a research on how humans naturally interact with others, having all the normal body movements and putting them into the robots’ programs to make them close to being real like us.
Professor Matsumoto aims to create robots with human-like characteristics in terms of appearance, speech, and motion.
Another scientist by the name of Dr. David Silvera-Tawill, a postdoctoral researcher of the Creative Robotics Lab introduces his own creation. His robot is designed to physically interact with humans. Dr. Silvera-Tawill also said that he’s planning on putting artificial skin to it so it can feel and react to touch.
The people behind this idea are now collaborating with scientists, artist and engineers to create robots that can interact with humans in a natural and intellectual way.
